NAACP and Cultural Appropriation
NAACP
This organization started in 1909 and NAACP stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Goal to ensure political, educational, social, and economic equality to all people and expunge race-based discrimination. The creation of this great organization is due to a riot in 1908, in New Orleans, where anti-black caused violence and lynched, but Springfield riot was the final development of NAACP. The founders were WEB DU Bois, Ida B. Well's, Mary White Ovington, Oswald Garrison, Henry Moskowitz, Lilian Wald.
Cultural Appropriation
The unacceptable or the improper adaptation of the custom, practices, ideas, etc. In other words, it is the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing comprehension or respect to the culture.
Examples:
